I knew I would finish with First Class - NOUN’s best graduating student


Mr. Taiwo Ogunlaiye, a student of Economics at Lagos Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has emerged Best Graduating Student of the university in 2020. In this chat with TOPE OYEWOLE of NOUN News recently at the centre, the 1st Class graduate bared his mind on how his academic voyage had been and how he accomplished the feat. Excerpts:

Buhari: Why I signed NOUN amended law ...As over 32,000 graduate in combined virtual convocation


President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that his prompt signature on the amended law of the National Open University of Nigeria's (NOUN) has resolved the long-term non-recognition of its graduates in the country.

He stated this on Saturday during the university's combined 9th and 10th Convocation Ceremony, which was held virtually.

Covid-19: Don picks holes in online teaching by institutions


An expert in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education, Professor Olufemi A. Peters, has identified standard as the "weak-link" in the recent flurry by the single-mode universities in Nigeria to offer online education in the race to find an answer to the Covid-19 challenge.

Speaking in an Inaugural Lecture delivered virtually on Thursday, Peters said many otherwise single-mode, face-to-face (f2f) universities are fast converting to dual-mode institutions due to certain reasons.

Over 32,000 to graduate at NOUN’s combined virtual convocation


The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 hold its combined 9th and 10th virtual convocation ceremony, where about 32,651 postgraduate and undergraduate students are expected to graduate.

Out of the total number, 24,300 are students from the 2020 graduation batch, while the remaining 8,351 make up the 2021 successful students who finished their various courses of study in the university.

Athletics Federation of Nigeria's boss donates hand sanitizers to Kaduna Study Centre


The Technical Director, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and Managing Director, Gelplus Phermaceuticals Limited, Kaduna, Mr. Sunday Adeleye Omotayo, has donated a cartoon of hand sanitizer to the NOUN Kaduna Study Centre. 

Omotayo, a former Olympian, is also a student of the National Open University of Nigeria, Kaduna Study Centre. 

He was, at a time, among the Nigerian athletes at the Olympics event, specialising in hurdle race.

VC's Tour of the Africa Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL)


ACETEL organized a valedictory tour of the centre to Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, a man who's unflinching support gave birth and nurtured the centre to what it is today.

Also at the event was incoming Vice-Chancellor Prof. Femi Peters who on behalf of ACETEL presented a "thank you" plaque to Prof. Adamu

Noun 2020_2 POP Exam Commences


The National Open University of Nigeria ( NOUN) commenced it's exam in Southwest region as well as other regions across the country today.

The exam commenced  peacefully at 7:30 at the Lagos study centre where the Director Dr Mrs Akujobi Alero and  some Noun security members ushered the students into their various halls and seats, the staff makes sure that the students  used the face
masks before entering the building and maintained other covid- 19 guidelines.
