ACETEL-CISCO Lab Ready For Short Courses

In its preparations towards producing digital experts in the country  ACETEL-CISCO Academy laboratory is now fully ready for that task ahead.

According to Centre Director Professor Grace Jokthan, the Lab was produced to keep pace with the centre desire of building ICT skills in the labour market.

Jokthan added the Lab is central and a basic instrument towards the commencement of full training in various short courses.

Earlier today, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, granted some staff of the Directorate of Media and Publicity an in-depth interview solely on his passion and interest in rapping.

The interview, which entirely centred on the VC's talent to rap as well as other musical interests, is billed to appear on the newly introduced "NOUN Talent" page on the monthly NOUN News magazine, which the Director, Mr. Ibrahim Sheme, said will feature any talented NOUN staff, irrespective of cadre, department or position.

Professor Olufemi Peters Elected as Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria

Olufemi A. Peters, a Professor of Chemistry, Thursday emerged as the newly elected Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Peters, 64, beat six other candidates to clinch the coveted seat in a keenly contested race at the nation's only single-mode Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution.

He is to take over the reins from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, whose five-year single tenure elapses on 10th February, 2021.

Director, Centre of Excellence in Migration and Global Studies (CEMGS) Visits Hon. Minister of State for Education

This morning, Director Centre of Excellence in Migration and Global Studies (CEMGS) Prof. Tijjani Ibikunle was on a sensitization visit to the office of the Hon. Minister of State for education.

The sensitization was part of efforts by CEMGS to drum awareness to its activities so far.

Prof. Ibikunle alongside Dr. (Mrs) Biola Adimula, President  Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Association in Nigeria were received by the Hon. Minister of state for education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and other directors of the ministry.

Finally, Body of Benchers approves NOUN Graduates for Law School

Nigeria’s Body of Benchers has approved admission of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) graduates into the Nigerian Law School.

The decision by the apex regulator of the legal profession in Nigeria was taken at its meeting held 1:30pm Thursday in the Supreme Court complex, Abuja.

The approved conditions would be that, 1,883 students from the Open University will be admitted at the Law School, and they will be subjected to 1-year remedial programme.
