NOUN lucky to have Prof. Peters as VC - Jokthan

The Centre Director, Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), Prof. Grace E. Jokthan has said the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) was privileged to have a renowned scientist and an inventor as its new Vice-Chancellor.

Jokthan stated this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the activities geared towards ACETEL’s first orientation ceremony, billed to hold virtually next week.

Conference Marking: Kaduna Centre wraps up exercise

The Coordinator of the Kaduna Conference Marking Centre, Professor Juliet Inegbedion, on Thursday said the centre has successfully concluded its exercise.

The centre, comprising of twenty (20) study centres, had received fifty-four thousand (54,000) scripts from all the centres under it, she said in an interview with the NOUN News correspondent.

NOUN Cancels Examination by Semester

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has cancelled the recently approved restructuring of examinations by semester.

Announcing the cancellation order, the Registrar of the university, Mr. Felix I. Edoka, informed all staff and students of the university in a memo that the decision was arrived at during the 87th meeting of the University Management Committee held in Abuja on Wednesday, 17th February, 2021.

A Professor of Chemistry, he is a man of firsts at the university - First Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, First Director of Academic Planning, First Director of Examinations and Assessment, and First Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics.

Peters assumes office as NOUN’s fifth VC

Professor Olufemi A. Peters on Thursday assumed office as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), succeeding Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, whose five-year tenure ended on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

In a brief handover ceremony held at the university’s headquarters in Abuja, Peters, who was elected the Vice-Chancellor on December 3, 2020, described his predecessor as a man whose tenure would always be reckoned with in the annals of the university.
